At this magical hour, the ocean is calm, the light is pink and golden, and the cliffs take on colours you will never see during the day. We share every moment with GoPro so you can show the world what you experienced.
Perfect for anyone who wants to start the day with energy and a different perspective of the Algarve. All levels welcome.
Why go at sunrise
In the early morning the sea is calmer and the caves are still empty. That is the difference between entering the Algar de Benagil alone and entering with twenty other boards.
The light is different too: the low sun comes in from the side through the roof opening and lights the inner wall instead of blowing it out. It is the hour for photographs nobody repeats at midday.
How it runs
We meet at Benagil beach, brief on the sand and get on the water. The route follows the coast to the caves, with stops to explain the geology and to take photographs. Your guide speaks English, Spanish and French.
GoPro photos and video are included. The minimum age is 4.
Access to the cave
Under the maritime authority's regulations, stepping onto the sand inside Benagil Cave is no longer allowed. Your guide makes sure you get the best views and photographs of the interior from the board, within the current safety rules.

Requirements and restrictions
- Children under 11 must share a board with one adult
- A basic level of fitness is required, and you should be comfortable in the water
- For safety reasons, pregnant women cannot take part
- Because of the physical nature of the activity and the possibility of sudden movements or rockslides, it is not recommended for people with chronic back or neck problems, or who have had surgery in the last 6 months

Full refund or credit with 72 hours' notice of cancellation. If we cancel because of weather or other unforeseen circumstances, you receive a full refund or credit. No-shows and late arrivals are charged the full price.
